Bryce and Lauren got married this past summer in Kansas City, Missouri. They tied the knot at the Guild KC and we ventured out around downtown for all of the KC themed photos. Check out their day below.
I'm so happy I met these hotties up in the mountains of Salt Lake City (Christian understood all of my movie references, and for that I have to throw a shout out to him because most people think I'm psycho when I quote old 90's movies). On this day we drove around the canyons in SLC Utah, took a short hike, climbed some rocks, and took some pretty insane pictures.
As I am writing this in a cafe an Edinburgh, Scotland I want everyone to know that destination weddings are 100% possible and not as daunting as it seems to plan. They are a way to experience a different culture, bond with family and friends, and party really fucking hard (You're getting married! Why not go big!)
I asked my gal pal Britt Crowe to shoot this wedding with me, and together we crushed it. Seriously, I edited over 2,500 photos of Vanessa's wedding to give to her. We were both so stoked on how beautiful it all was... but also more stoked on the fact that Vanessa fed us cake from her bare hands as she cut her cake.
I met Brad and Dani last month when they inquired to me about shooting their engagement party at a Horse stable that they own and operate together. They both have such a passion for family that they threw a party so that both Brad and Dani's families could meet and hang out before they tie the knot in France next year. They didn't want anyone to feel uncomfortable, and they wanted everyone to feel like family by the time of their wedding celebration. I loved this idea, it was so personal and beautiful to see everyone mingle and meet.
I met Austin and Haley last year at my friends Mackenzie and Kyle's Wedding in Austin TX. We sat down next to each other at the reception and bonded over skateboarding, living in California, and wedding cakes. They have been together for almost 8 years and are still so obsessed with each other that at points it brings tears to my eyes. Seriously, you should find their wedding video on the internet.. it'll bring actual tears to your eyeballs.
Last Saturday I had the absolute pleasure of shooting one badass rock and roll wedding. In a church that looked just like the one from A Walk to Remember. Sara is a singer songwriter in Kansas City! From what I heard from speeches at her wedding, Sara had giving up on love and marriage long before Chris slide into those Dm's about wanting to play bass for her.
Last year Jessica reached out to me in one of the best ways you could reach out to a photographer. Telling me that she loved my work and wanted to immediately book me for her wedding. As a wedding photographer and small business owner I put so much integrity and time into making my work and my business stand out, so when I get people that truly value me and aren't just shopping for the best deal, I just want to virtually give them the biggest hug and tell them thank you for making me feel like all my hard work is paying off.
When Brittany and Tim got engaged in early 2017, they both knew that, between switching careers, moving, and saving for a house, they wouldn't have time to put together something special for them and their guests. That is why Brittany's mother, Dolores, took it upon herself and put her heart and soul into making this wedding everything that the couple could ever want.
Two weekends ago I had the absolute pleasure of hanging out and shooting Cassidy and Blakes wedding. They are two of the most chill humans I have ever met. It made shooting their wedding a breeze and so enjoyable. They just were so whatever and excited about everything that nothing could go on, that's my kind of couple!
I am finally back in Kansas City! Finally back in my large king bed, finally back in my old clothes, back in my high boots, back to showering consistently, and most importantly I am back to my routine... but not for long.. I leave for San Diego for a Wedding on Friday then leave for Cancun on Sunday. Living slowly has never been my style and I honestly think I could live this kind of life for the rest of my days. There's something about living out of a suitcase and indulging in new ways of living that fascinates me.
Sunday morning I had the pleasure of waking up at 5am to get ready to shoot Tatiana and Leo at Karon Beach in Phuket. Leo proposed to Tatiana at the airport before their trip to Thailand. Seriously, how perfect is that? I was so stoked that I was going to shoot their engagement photos, but I was also super nervous because they are Russian and I was worried I wouldn't be able to direct as well with the language barrier.
I am so happy to be back in this beautiful and affordable country! I was here last year and I left already planning on coming back the next year, and here I am sitting in my hotel room in Bangkok writing a blog post about my latest trip! Kansas City is great and all, but I need an ocean and good scenery to balance myself out.
