As I am writing this in a cafe an Edinburgh, Scotland I want everyone to know that destination weddings are 100% possible and not as daunting as it seems to plan. They are a way to experience a different culture, bond with family and friends, and party really fucking hard (You're getting married! Why not go big!)
“My husband and I have always been awkward in front of the camera, but she made us feel so comfortable and we had a blast taking our engagement pictures! We didn’t want it to end! After you work with her one time, I promise you will leave wanting her to be your new best friend! Not only that, but I am so in love with EVERY SINGLE ONE of our engagement pictures and will cherish them forever.”
“Organizing your marriage also means choosing the best people to entrust the story of one of the most important days of your life. We have spoken to many photographers, each with their own style, with their own beliefs, with their own way of working. All very professional in describing their service, and in proposing their packages. We chose the only one who didn't talk about any of this, but that she limited herself to asking us who WE were and what WE liked, the only one who was really interested in US and who showed immediately the will to tell our Best story. If there was a 10-star rating I would give it. Emma is so incredibly talented and knows how to capture art worthy shots. She is worth every penny and more! We will cherish these photos for a lifetime. I can't thank Her enough. So, do yourself a favor and book this beautiful and creative soul now! Emma’s artistic eye beautiful soul, love for adventure will leave you speechless. I promise. She’s everything you need and more In a photographer. We love you Emma!”
I met Austin and Haley last year at my friends Mackenzie and Kyle's Wedding in Austin TX. We sat down next to each other at the reception and bonded over skateboarding, living in California, and wedding cakes. They have been together for almost 8 years and are still so obsessed with each other that at points it brings tears to my eyes. Seriously, you should find their wedding video on the internet.. it'll bring actual tears to your eyeballs.
Last year Jessica reached out to me in one of the best ways you could reach out to a photographer. Telling me that she loved my work and wanted to immediately book me for her wedding. As a wedding photographer and small business owner I put so much integrity and time into making my work and my business stand out, so when I get people that truly value me and aren't just shopping for the best deal, I just want to virtually give them the biggest hug and tell them thank you for making me feel like all my hard work is paying off.
“Time and time again I listened to my friends and family's Wedding Photographer horror stories! Because of this I took special care into seeking out a credible photographer that had an 'eye' for a perfect shot... and let me tell ya... THIS GIRL HAS IT GOING ON! From the very beginning, you receive an inspiring brochure on her packages that will seriously make you want to get married right then and there! When it comes to the big day.. let me tell you my now husband and I are incredibly awkward and hadn't had professional photos done before... but this was not a problem for Emma! She was great at loosening us up at our wedding in humorous ways and provided great direction for our photos! Everyone has been so impressed by her quality, but even more that she really went with the flow of the event, always capturing our special moments. Could not thank her enough and would suggester her to absolutely EVERYONE! “
“Emma made all of my wedding photo dreams come true!! The way she gets genuine personality come through each photograph is a true gift. She had all of our photos edited and returned within a week! It was so special to be able to see them right away instead of having to wait months and months like other photographers. The photos were phenomenal as well which made it worth every penny!”
I am finally back in Kansas City! Finally back in my large king bed, finally back in my old clothes, back in my high boots, back to showering consistently, and most importantly I am back to my routine... but not for long.. I leave for San Diego for a Wedding on Friday then leave for Cancun on Sunday. Living slowly has never been my style and I honestly think I could live this kind of life for the rest of my days. There's something about living out of a suitcase and indulging in new ways of living that fascinates me.
Sunday morning I had the pleasure of waking up at 5am to get ready to shoot Tatiana and Leo at Karon Beach in Phuket. Leo proposed to Tatiana at the airport before their trip to Thailand. Seriously, how perfect is that? I was so stoked that I was going to shoot their engagement photos, but I was also super nervous because they are Russian and I was worried I wouldn't be able to direct as well with the language barrier.
I am so happy to be back in this beautiful and affordable country! I was here last year and I left already planning on coming back the next year, and here I am sitting in my hotel room in Bangkok writing a blog post about my latest trip! Kansas City is great and all, but I need an ocean and good scenery to balance myself out.
“Emma is a true creative from start to finish. Her images capture the raw/real emotions of her clients in such a powerful way. Her story telling abilities are incredible and she gives 100% to every single shoot and couple she works with. I cannot recommend her enough. If you are looking for an adventurous portrait photographer, Emma is your girl!”
So let me just start by saying that Shawn and Karianna might be some of my favorite humans I have ever met. The first time I met them via facetime I was obsessed with them. Shawn is by far one of the goofiest and most genuine humans I have ever met (he's also in the armed forces which is badass), and Karianna is just the sweetest most considerate and loving person. Together they make the most epic duo, and I am so stoked that I get to photograph their wedding this year!
Man, it was nice to kind of switch it up yesterday with my pal Lily Dawson. Lily is a talented and wonderful jewlery designer here in Kansas City, if you live around the area I'm sure you've seen her stuff around! Or, if you follow me on instagram I am always wearing her creations! They are magnificent and you should 100% buy stuff from her!
Tyler and Skyler.... Doesn't that just sound so perfect?! That sounds like the names of two best buds. It's even more perfect that these two lovers are actually best friends and engaged. The chemistry these two people have together is so intoxicating and infectious. Even I was sitting there thinking, " OMG I just want to go home and hug my person!"
“My wife and I chose Emma to be our wedding photographer and it was the best decision we could’ve made! Emma captured our big day better than we could’ve imagined. She’s fun, easy to work with, and gets the best out of the people she photographs. Some other photographers I’ve been around have been bossy and straight up mean, but our wedding party and I never once felt that from Emma, she keeps it light and lively. The location for our wedding party photos was set in the middle of a basin, surrounded by mountains, and Emma took the time to scout it out for us to make sure the spot was just right. The portraits of my wife and I were intimate and fun. Emma even went out of her way to bring New Years Eve themed party hats, glasses, and confetti, which helped make our pictures turn out even better. We look at the pictures now and wish for the chance to go back and re-do the whole day. Emma is a great friend and an even better photographer, my wife and I would highly recommend her to anyone. We can’t wait to put our wedding attire back on, head to a quirky spot, and take some more photos with Emma.”
If you ever text me and say, "Hey, I rented a cabin in the mountains, can we do a photo session there?" I will 100% say yes! I love adventures, I love trekking through the forest for spots, and I love curling up by a fireplace with hot cocoa while enjoying the log cabin ambiance. That's what my day was like yesterday.
