A Modern and Timeless Kansas City Wedding: Capturing Elegance and Candid Moments

In the heart of Kansas City, Ashley and Andrew got married. Their style blends modernity with timeless elegance. From getting ready at The Truitt to capturing wedding party portraits around the iconic Nelson-Atkins Museum, to a heartfelt ceremony at Pilgrim Chapel and margarita toasts at Mission Taco, Ashley and Andre’s day was filled with unforgettable moments. Because this couple was so laid back I wanted my photos to read more like a visual narrative, blending editorial styling with candid and documentary imagery.

Getting Ready at The Truitt:

The day began at The Truitt, a midcentury modern BNB where the bride and her bridesmaids got dressed for the wedding. Before the first look Ashley slipped into a posh strapless sparkly dress, give elegance meets party vibes. Meanwhile, the groom donned a killer velvet dark green suit jacket from Suit Supply.

Wedding Party Portraits at Nelson Atkins Museum:

Against the regal and lush backdrop of the Nelson-Atkins Museum, the wedding party came together for some creative group photos around the east side of the building where the massive columns are, adding a more high-end european vibe that I thought complemented the couple's aesthetic. The photos captured the camaraderie and the bond shared between old friends as they cheered and screamed at my camera. After we shot couples portraits, where I got to add some of my personal creative direction to add a touch of high-fashion allure to their gallery.

A traditional Ceremony at the little Pilgrim Chapel:

The couple exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony at The Little Pilgrim Chapel. The solemnity of the chapel's ornate arches and the soft, filtered light through stained glass windows created a nostalgic atmosphere. After the ceremony, the celebration continued with margarita toasts at Mission Taco before a casual trot over to The Guild for the reception. The Guild set the stage for a killer reception with their grand chandelier in the middle of their white tile and exposed brick space. The dynamic atmosphere came alive after the couple shared an emotional first dance and had a drunken batch of speeches. The party got started with a live band that got the entire room on the dance floor.
